"Messy Essy" was my nickname growing up. Of course, it had to do with food--more of it all over me than in my mouth. Making giant food messes was my job. Flash forward a few decades later and here I am, still making messes in the kitchen. This time, I make a point to let more of it land in my mouth than all over my clothes and floor. And luckily, my husband Derek, helps me clean it up.

I love everything about food. Period. I'm now a registered dietitian and diabetes educator and am passionate about helping people live a healthier, happier life through good nutrition.

Simple, delicious, healthy, whole foods cooking. That's what this site is all about. Back to the basics. Getting away from packaged, processed, adulterated "food" that only leaves us feeling fatigued and unsatisfied. Not to mention sending our entire body into an inflammatory state, leading to chronic health conditions and more medication.

Thousands of years ago, long before the advent of pills, injections and radiation therapy, food really was medicine. Let's bring it back!
